Ports Lose Series Against Fresno, Set To Take On Modesto At Home

The Stockton Ports hit the road and took on the Fresno Grizzlies this past week and lost the series 4-2.The Ports are looking to play sound baseball as they take on the first place Modesto Nuts starting tomorrow, Tuesday, June 25th with first pitch slated for 7:05 PM.

PREVIOUS GAMES AGAINST THE GRIZZLIES

  • Tuesday, June 18: The Ports took game 1 of the series 4-3 after the bullpen stepped up combining for 7 innings of scoreless baseball. Lasko homered, Naylor and Franco both had an RBI which helped lead the charge in the opening of this six-game set.
  • Wednesday, June 19: After winning the opening game of the series, the Ports dropped game 2 with a final score of 3-1. Avant threw 4 innings, giving up 3 runs (1ER) and that is all the offense Fresno needed. The offense for the Ports struggled as they only got 4 hits, 2 of them coming from Salom.
  • Thursday, June 20: The first half of the season officially ended, and the Ports came up short losing game 3 of the series 10-1. The Grizzlies tagged Jean for 8 ER’s over just 2.1 IP and did not let the Ports back into the game. Rijo went 2-4 with a pair of singles, and Salom collected his second triple of the year.
  • Friday, June 21: The Ports got shutout on Friday night losing 8-0. Czyz and Manzano combined for 4 innings of relief, only allowing 1 run while striking out 4. Beltran and Franco got the only 2 hits of the night.
  • Saturday, June 22: Dicochea got the Ports off to a strong start throwing 5 scoreless innings while striking out 6. Lasko knocked in two RBI’s while going 1-6, but ultimately the Ports dropped the contest in extras 4-3.
  • Sunday, June 23: The bats were hot as the Ports won the game 11-7! Schofield-Sam went 3-5 and collected himself 4 RBI’s, Nate Nankil went 2-4 and collected 2 RBI’s. Rijo, Salom and Naylor each had an RBI as well in the game. 

BACK HOME THIS WEEK

This week at Banner Island Ballpark is filled with exciting events and promotions. Thursday features Thirsty Thursday with $1 Busch Light cans, discounted snacks, and $8 field box tickets. Friday celebrates Union Night, a Nate Diaz Bobblehead Giveaway for the first 1,000 fans, Affiliate Food Friday featuring a churro dog - a waffle with churros nestled inside with two scoops of coffee ice cream and chocolate drizzle , and the Splash 4 Cash contest. Saturday brings Classic Car Night, a grand fireworks display, Behavioral Health Night, and another round of Splash 4 Cash. T.J. Schofield-Sam


Since his call-up in mid-May, T.J. has participated in 34 games with the Ports. Boasting a .278 batting average and a .325 on-base percentage, the 2019 draft pick has accumulated 5 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run, and 17 RBIs in just over a month here in Stockton. In his most recent game against the Grizzlies, T.J. went 3-5 with a 3 run HR and an RBI 2B. At 23 years old, the lefty is poised to make a significant impact in the second half of the season, aiming to keep increasing his percentages.

Tyler Soderstrom

In his last 7 games, Tyler is batting .304 with an OBP of .385. In that span he has 2 HR’s and 6 RBI’s coming against the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals.

Max Muncy

The 2021 First Rounder is still on the injured list with a nagging injury but when the SS is in the lineup he gets on base. Through 22 games, Muncy is hitting .274 and has an OBP of .379. He has tallied 6 2B’s, 2 HR’s, and 11 RBI’s.

Daniel Susac

The 2022 First Rounder is batting .263 with an OBP of .295 this year for Midland. Susac has 8 2B’s, 3 HR’s, and 16 RBI’s in his 2024 campaign. The catcher just got placed on the 7-day injured list, upon his return the 23 year old is looking to have a breakout second half for the RockHounds.

Henry Bolte

Bolte is off and running quite literally… He has collected 26 stolen bags this season for Lansing. Through 64 games, he is batting .283 and has an OBP of .395. The 20 year old does it all… he has 18 2B’s, 5 3B’s, 11 HR’s, and has knocked in 48. Keep an eye out on Bolte this year or you might miss him!

Join former Major League All-Star and World Series Champion Cecil Fielder for an exclusive hitting clinic at Banner Island Ballpark on July 27th and 28th, 2024. This two-day clinic, designed for young athletes aged 8-15, is limited to 60 participants and costs $200 per person. In addition to personalized coaching from Fielder, attendees will also enjoy his ceremonial first pitch at the Ports' game against the Fresno Grizzlies on July 27th. Fielder will be available for a free autograph session during the game from the 2nd through the 7th inning for all ticket holders.
