Ports Split with Giants, Welcome in Grizzlies This Week

The Stockton Ports continue to play well over recent weeks splitting their series with the San Jose Giants this past week at Excite Ballpark. Stockton has now won nine of their last 13 games heading into this week's series against the Fresno Grizzlies. The series begins tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14th with first pitch slated for 11:00 AM.

PREVIOUS GAMES AGAINST GIANTS

  • Tuesday, May 7: The Stockton Ports blanked the San Jose Giants 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Excite ballpark, taking game one of the six-game series for their seventh win in their last eight games.
  • Wednesday, May 8 - The Ports (11-16) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in game two of the six-game set in San Jose, before the Giants (14-14) came back to tie it up at 5-5 and pull away with a seven-run seventh inning to win 12-5.
  • Thursday, May 9 -  The Ports (12-16) took game three of the six-game set with San Jose (14-15) with a 5-2 win over the Giants behind five shutout innings from starting pitcher Ryan Brown.
  • Friday, May 10 - The Giants (15-15) evened up the six-game series with the Ports (12-17) at two games a piece on Friday night, with a 5-2 win at Excite Ballpark.
  • Saturday, May 11 -  A grand slam by Stockton catcher Cole Conn capped off a five-run ninth inning and propelled the Ports to a 7-6 comeback win over the Giants on Saturday.
  • Sunday, May 12 -  The Ports had to settle for a split of the six-game series with the Giants this week, after San Jose got a little boost from some star power on the mound to win 5-2 on Sunday.

TOP PERFORMERS

  • Cole Conn excelled this week at San Jose going 10-24 knocking in 8, including a go-ahead game winning grand slam in Saturday's 7-6 win.
  • Nate Nankil continues to provide power for the Ports going 5-13 with a home run and three RBI
  • Tzu-Chen Sha was lights out this past week in San Jose hauling 8.1 innings pitched, including a start, allowing just one run and five hits.

SERIES PREVIEW vs. FRESNO GRIZZLIES

The Ports head back home this week to take on the Fresno Grizzlies for the second time this season (Colorado Rockies Single-A affiliate) this week starting on Tuesday, May 14th through Sunday, May 19th.

Following their six-game series against the Grizzlies, the Ports hit the road again to take on the Inland Empire 66ers for the first time in 2024.


LAST TIME OUT

The last time these two teams faced off was back in April, where the Grizzlies took five of six from the Ports at Banner Island Ballpark.


  • Stockton scored just 17 runs in their previous series against the Grizzlies
  • Fresno won the season series in 2023 18-12 and 2022 26-4
