Ports Roll Past Rawhide, Take Five of Six

The Ports played their best baseball of the season this past week at Banner Island Ballpark against the Visalia Rawhide winning five out of the six games. Pitching led the way for Stockton boasting a 2.29 earned run average and silencing Visalia's bats to just 14 earned runs in the six games. The Ports will look to keep momentum against the San Jose Giants this week where they'll start their six-game series at Excite Ballpark on Tuesday, May 7th with first pitch set for 11:30 AM.

PREVIOUS GAMES AGAINST RAWHIDE

  • Tuesday, April 30 - : The Stockton Ports won their second-straight game on Tuesday night with an 11-5 victory over the Visalia Rawhide, taking game one of the six game series.
  • Wednesday, May 1 - The Ports defeated the Rawhide 3-1 on Wednesday night, winning a crisply-played, pitcher’s duel for their third-straight win to take the first two games of the series versus Visalia.
  • Thursday, May 2 -  A game-ending balk in the bottom of the 10th sent to the Ports to their fourth-straight win, and third straight over Visalia on Thursday night, in a 4-3 defeat of the Rawhide in game three of the six-game series. 
  • Friday, May 3 - The Stockton Ports had their four-game win streak snapped on Friday night, but capped a five-run sixth inning with a grand slam from Luke Mann to make it a one run game, and set up a thrilling finish that saw Visalia hang on for an 8-7 over the Ports.
  • Saturday, May 4 -  The Ports got right back in the win column on Saturday night, this time by completing a comeback to win their first series of the season via a 5-4 win over Visalia.
  • Sunday, May 5 -  The Ports took down the Rawhide 5-1 on Cinco De Mayo, and took the series five games to one as well.

TOP PERFORMERS

  • Luke Mann crushed the ball this past week going 11-23 with three home runs, seven RBI, and an OPS of 1.528 including a grand slam in Friday's 8-7 loss against the Rawhide.
  • Nate Nankil continues to provide consistency in the Ports lineup going 7-22 with two home runs, pushing his home run total to four(4).
  • Ryan Brown was perfect out of the bullpen this past week for the Ports throwing 5.2 scoreless innings while striking out seven.

The Ports hit the road this week to take on the San Jose Giants for the first time this season (San Francisco Giants Single-A affiliate) this week starting on Tuesday, May 7th through Sunday, May 12th.

Chen Zhuang has had an electric start to his 2024 season after missing the entire 2023 season. The righty has appeared in five games, including making three starts compiling 1.53 earned run average in 17.1 innings pitched with 22 strikeouts and opponents hitting just .188 against him.

The Ports have won six out of their last seven games, including a series win against the Visalia Rawhide this past week taking five of six.


  • Stockton is hitting .258 over their last seven, compared to their season average of just .206.
  • In their last seven games, Stockton has flashed a 2.39 ERA which leads the Cal League during that time along with 61 strikeouts and only 15 walks allowed - tied for the least amount during that time.
