On Deck @ San Jose Giants Excite Ballpark Tuesday, September 5th - Sunday, September 10th // Times vary Following their six game series against the Quakes, the Ports will make their way to San Jose and the Giants for the final series of the 2023 season. Stockton is 12-12 against San Jose this season and will look to end with a series win which would give them their first season series win since 2019.
AGAINST THE QUAKES This will be the second time the the two teams have met this season. The Quakes took the first series in 2023 back in May 4-2. The Ports are 8-11 against the Quakes since the start of 2022.
Rancho Cucamonga has already clinched a spot in the 2023 playoffs and currently waiting to see who they'll matchup against in the first round. As of today, it would be the Inland Empire 66ers who are in first place by five games. The Quakes just took a series split against the Lake Elsinore Storm. The Ports sit last in the Northern Division and are coming off a series loss against the Fresno Grizzlies, having dropped the last two games.
WHO'S HOT HENRY BOLTE, OF: In his last 25 games, Bolte is batting .263 (25-for-95) with 4 2B, 4 HR and 16 RBI. He is slugging .432 with an .784 OPS during that time. GARRETT IRVIN, P: Over his last 5 games, Irvin has a flawless 0.00 earned run average with 11 strikeouts and opponents hitting just .200 against him. Irvin hasn't allowed an earned run since July 16th.
PORTS MASTERING ART OF BASE-THIEVERY: Over their last 12 games, the Ports have been both aggressive and successful on the basepaths. Stockton has been successful in 29 of its last 36 attempts on the basepaths, and the Ports’ 29 SB during that time is the most in the California League. Jonah Cox has led the way for Stockton recently with 11 SB during that time. In the month of August, the Ports are 45-for-54 in stolen base attempts, with their 45 SB ranking second in the circuit behind the 66ers (57) by 12.
STOCKTON ARMS GETTING IT DONE RECENTLY: The Ports have been throwing the ball well over their last 12 games since August 15th. During that time, Stockton’s ERA of 4.23 is tops in the league, 0.06 behind the Inland Empire (4.17) and almost a point behind Rancho Cucamonga (3.69).
