Modesto Takes Opening Series Against Ports with Seven Home Runs in Game Three

Game three of the opening series went to the Modesto Nuts on Sunday afternoon, as they ran away with the rubber match in a 14-5 win over the Ports.

Friday, April 5 - The Modesto Nuts pulled away late to take the 2024 season opener at Banner Island Ballpark in a 7-2 over the Stockton Ports. The Nuts would tack on three more runs in the ninth on a two-run shot by Pagliarini to the Back Porch in right and a Lazaro Montes single drove in a run for the 7-2 win for Modesto. Yunior Tur pitched a 1-2-3 sixth before running into trouble in the Nuts’ three-run seventh to take the loss.
Saturday, April 6 - The Stockton Ports evened up the season-opening, three-game series with the Modesto Nuts on Saturday Night, taking down the defending California League Champs 4-2.
Sunday, April 7 - Game three of the opening series went to the Modesto Nuts on Sunday afternoon, as they ran away with the rubber match in a 14-5 win over the Ports.

TOP PERFORMERS

Cole Conn - Conn shined during Opening Weekend going 7-11 with two runs driven in and an OPS of 1.532.
Nate Nankil - Nankil provided power for the Ports in their Opening Series against Modesto going 5-9 with a home run and six runs batted in.
Will Johnston - Johnston couldn't have asked for a better start to the 2024 season throwing 4.2 IP of no-hit baseball in Saturday night's 4-2 win over the Nuts while striking out eight.

Following their six-game series against the Quakes, the Ports head back to Banner Island Ballpark to take on the Fresno Grizzlies for the first time this season. The Ports went 12-18 against Fresno in 2023.

Against Rancho Cucamonga

This will be one of two times the two teams will meet this season after the Quakes took seven out of twelve against the Ports in 2023, including going 4-2 at their home ballpark of LoanMart Field.
